Loch Muick The Watercolour

The painting was sketched in some detail to ensure accuracy of the surrounding mountain tops from Broad Cairn in the west to Lair of Aldararil in the east. That backdrop was painted in with a weak wash that became solid on both sides moving forward.

The front area below the snow line is accurately painted to form the east track around the loch.

To its immediate west side out of view sits Lochnagar (1154m), a mountain of some splendour and easily accessible to the hill walker as part of the southern Grampians.

The area is abundant in wildlife living freely in their surroundings.

The watercolour will appeal to walkers and visitors to that area.

  1. Sandra H

Loved every painting. John has a great feeling for the castles and the other subjects.

This was one of my favourite paintings.

Excellent pictures. All of them actually, but this is one of my favourites.

    Detail very accurate, colours apt.

These paintings should be on display often at different venues e.g. craft fairs.
