September Newsletter
August is a favourite holiday month for me after several busy months of painting and exhibitions, which unfortunately didn’t happen this year.
The strong light and shade in August make painting subjects look their best. It’s also a month of craft fairs, highland gatherings, and shows where artists display their hard work from previous months. This includes painting, sculpture, jewellery, textiles, leatherwork, woodwork, turning, general handicrafts, and cards that showcase the rich heritage and skills in the northeast of Scotland.
We’re fortunate to have many visitors who take home items as memories of this area. It’s nice to know that something we made can be found anywhere in the world.
This thought is the foundation of the great depth and width of heritage that we artists are creating. This area can only benefit from it worldwide.

Balmoral Castle
Balmoral Castle shows the different styles and details that are common in castles in the area.
I wanted to capture this in watercolour from a new angle that is not often seen in other paintings. It was a fun challenge and I am very pleased with the final painting.
