William Wallace Statue: Aberdeen
A painting of William Wallace's statue in Aberdeen
This painting is a pen and ink drawing of the statue of William Wallace, the Scottish hero who fought for freedom from England in the Middle Ages. The statue, sculpted by William Grant Stevenson in 1888, stands on a pedestal with scenes from Wallace's life and a quote from his speech.
The painting uses light blue washes to create a sky background that contrasts with the dark bronze statue.

Balmoral Castle in Watercolour: A Unique Perspective
Balmoral Castle shows the different styles and details that are common in castles in the area.
I wanted to capture this in watercolour from a new angle that is not often seen in other paintings. It was a fun challenge and I am very pleased with the final painting.

New Look Braemar Castle was painted at the end of the 2022-3 restoration. The new pink / cream render looks magnificent in the June sunshine.

My Beechwood Walk watercolour was inspired by moments of tranquil reflection in nature.
It captures the essence of a serene stroll through an ancient beech wood. As sunlight bathes the trees, casting captivating shadows, the winding path leads us through moss-covered boulders and stones, accompanied by a weathered drystane wall.
This artwork seeks to convey the beauty and serenity of a peaceful journey through "Beechwood Walk."
