  • Hackley Bay Aberdeenshire: Background

    Located in the Forvie National Nature Reserve, this bay is rich with history, from smugglers’ legends to its WWII past.

    The painting shows the bay’s serene beauty, looking north towards Colliston. I used a calm palette of blues for the sea and sky, with light ochre sands and earthy browns for the cliffs. Working from a photograph allowed me to capture its perfect tranquillity.

    This tribute to the Aberdeenshire coastline is designed to inspire exploration.
