Balmoral Castle shows the different styles and details that are common in castles in the area.
I wanted to capture this in watercolour from a new angle that is not often seen in other paintings. It was a fun challenge and I am very pleased with the final painting.
Braemar Castle painted in winter months was built in 1628 as a hunting lodge for John Erskine Earl of Mar.
Castle Fraser from the southwest gives scope to paint a number of textures and colours shown on the walls. The watercolour painted from ground level shows the difficult work in the construction of the building.
