Birse Deeside
Painting
The colours seen on the day Birse was visited made the subject a must to paint.
This painting shows a typical area of rough ground well known to country walkers and a must to paint with its diversity of colour; the mood set with the painting is tranquillity that was built up with several washes to give a depth of field to the setting.
Countryside
Birse is a parish on lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire between Banchory and Aboyne that includes the peoples of Finzean and Ballogie. It is predominantly agricultural and straddles tributary waters of the River Dee known as Birse with parts of woodland and rough ground alongside the river. The south-west part of the parish is a sparsely populated upland area known as the Forest of Birse.

Burn O Vat, Aberdeenshire (Original)

Sophie –
Such a peaceful countryside picture with a stream and trees. The muted greens and greys feel very soothing and reminiscent of quiet rambles along the river. It would look lovely in a hallway or bedroom.
