Bullers of Buchan a Peterhead Vantage Point (Original)
£300.00
Bullers of Buchan is an impressive vantage point on the Buchan coastline south of Peterhead.
It is a natural wonder, a collapsed sea cave that forms a circular hole with an archway where the sea water rushes in

The Watercolour
The painting was divided into three rock sections to allow detailed sketching.
Washes were laid in to enhance the various colours of the cliffs. From that the sky and sea washes were added in order to give the depth of field. Given the crumbling nature of the rock structure pen and ink was used to enhance the cracks and holes. Washes of differing colours were painted to give the image of a sunny day with extensive shadows. Finished off with the grass topping.
The painting depicts the extensive ancient cliffs and caves forming the coastline incorporating the Bullers of Buchan unique to that area.

James –
This dramatic cliffside scene makes me think of rugged coast walks and salty sea air. The way the rocks and water are painted gives a sense of depth and movement. It would look great in a coastal themed room.
