Neuschwanstein Castle in Dominant Perspective
Price range: £10.00 through £40.00
Neuschwanstein Castle has a unique position and dominance in the surrounding landscape of Southern Bavaria, shown in this painting.
The Watercolour
A detailed sketch was essential to capture all aspects and facts of the original design. The preservation of the castle is reflected in the washes of off-white and creams on the walls. The blue roofs made this watercolour a complex study in painting. The final image within the landscape has been successful.
Some History
The Walt Disney Film Studio uses a cartoon image of Neuschwanstein Castle, with added fireworks, at the beginning of their films.
The castle was built by King Ludwig II during the 19th century as a private residence using personal funds. The Castle is decorated with scenes from Operas composed by Richard Wagner, a personal friend.
