Oast Farm Watercolour
The buildings were created using points and lines intervened with the white paper to form the farm under snow. A style of painting in the negative. The oast chimney was painted in full.
The foreground fields fencing and trees were individually painted at specific points to give the painting interest. Parts of the full fencing and trees had areas left out to accommodate snow coverings.
The track below the snow was washed in with a very light colour wash.
This style of watercolour requires lots of thought as to where washes should and should not be used.

Edward –
The distinctive oast houses of Kent are captured with such warmth. Those conical roofs and brick walls evoke memories of summer holidays and the smell of hops drying. It feels nostalgic.
