Pennan Village Around a Small Harbour (Original)
£300.00
Pennan Village is quaint yet enduring in a rugged setting made up of a few dozen houses and a hotel on a single street with a small harbour to the east end in keeping with other small villages along the north coast.

The painting was difficult to keep light in structure to reflect the predominantly white single and two-storey period houses with high coloured roofs background hills and foreshore.
As with most other villages on the Aberdeenshire coast, the collection of houses are built facing or gable-end to the sea. Their condition is high quality giving sharp lines that attracted me to paint the village.
The red payphone box was granted listed building status when Pennan was catapulted into the spotlight after it was used as the backdrop to Bill Forsythโs blockbuster movie “Local Hero”.

Joseph –
Pennan looks like the perfect escape. The tiny cottages huddled around the harbour feel cosy and welcoming. I can almost imagine popping into the local pub for a chat with the fishermen.
