Waterfall in Highlands Watercolour
The painting is a waterfall on an unknown river north of Inverness.
It was given life by laying in weak washes for the rear trees and shrubs and leaving a clear area signifying mist.
The mid and front of the valley forming the river bed was conceived using different strengths of paint and washes with just enough detail to provide the wow factor of the scale in the depth of field.
The freshness of the atmosphere surrounding the river line helped to give the watercolour a sense of remoteness.
Anything else added to the picture would have spoilt the landscape.
